Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2026 to you and your loved ones!
I visited the homes of our students to greet them and gather information about the school. I posted pictures followed by descriptions.
Boniface Kyara: I visited his home and met his family members, his mother, his sister, and children playing outside their house. They welcomed me warmly and shared how happy their son was to be continuing his A-level studies. Later, I met Boniface and he told me about his school life. He said the school he attends is in a very rural area in the Manyara region, where the round-trip fare is 90,000 TSh. The school is a government school and does not have enough teachers, so parents contribute 200,000 TSh per semester to pay for additional teachers. He said they have done their terminal exams and he passed with Division 1.4. The subjects he is studying are Economics, Geography, and Mathematics (EGM), and he hopes to become a surveyor. He said the food at school is not good,one type of food is cooked, and some times is not enough. He needs at least 200,000 TSh per semester to improve Mills. He is currently in Form 5, and the second semester will start on 13/1/2026. He is very grateful to KiT for helping him, otherwise, he would have had more difficulty studying.
Honest Urio: I visited Honest's house and found him at home with his grandfather, who is very old and mentally challenged due to old age. As I mentioned before, he was raised by his grandmother since he was 9 months old after being abandoned by his parents. They welcomed me warmly to their house. When I greeted him and grandfather, his grandmother arrived from the hospital, she had been to the city hospital for high blood pressure and diabetes treatment. We sat together to discuss Honest's progress. Honest took exams twice before holidays and got Division 1.7 and Division 1.8. His guardians are grateful his results are not bad and he is growing and gaining knowledge. Honest is studying History, Geography, and Economics (HGE). He was worried about getting a deviation from his preferred subjects, he was initially assigned HKL (History, Kiswahili, and English), which he did not like. The school seems stricter than Boniface's. It has enough teachers, though the food is not great. He said 100,000 TSh per term would help improve food. He is owed other donations: 130,000 TSh for remedial classes and 150,000 TSh for building a wall around the school. The school reopens on 13/1/2026. He thanks everyone in KiT for helping with his studies.
Glory Masawe: During this vacation, I could not meet our student Glory as she went to visit her sister in another region. I spoke to her on the phone to check on her and get an update on school progress. She said she is doing well with her studies, though there are occasional challenges adjusting to boarding school life with teachers and classmates, compared to staying at home with her parents. As she mentioned earlier, she's studying Chemistry, Biology, and Geography (CBG) and hopes to become a Nurse. In the terminal exams, she got Division 2.12. Her financial challenges at school include:
- 180,000 TSh for additional studies
- 50,000 TSh graduation contribution
- 60,000 TSh for test papers
